Sterling & Katie : Racing Through Life Together

We usually laugh when people ask us where we met and we respond, "Tinder!"... but it's the truth. I first noticed Sterling when I discovered that he was a dirt track stock car driver. I've been around racing since I was a little girl, so I asked the first question, "where do you usually race?" I must have asked the right question, because a week later, we were on our first date at Joe's Karting in Council Bluffs. We enjoyed terrible service at Buffalo Wild Wings and didn't want the night to end so we went to the Salty Dog for a couple of Jack & Cokes. Talk about humble beginnings!

After months of following Sterling around race tracks, we were hooked on one another. A little over two years later, I was sitting in Amber's dining room with my sister, telling her about my great-grandmother's amethyst and giving her my mom's original wedding ring and letting her know how much it would mean to have them my wedding ring. After Sterling enlisted the help of my friends and family to choose a design, Amber went to work. When she was finished, he took me back on our first date (terrible service and all!) and proposed to me in the same place we had our first kiss. He still thinks it was cheesy, but I think it was perfect.

I've been wearing my ring now for almost two years and I still get as many compliments on it today as I did when I first put it on. It's my favorite piece of jewelry for more reasons than the fact that it signifies the love I have for my husband - it's full of family memories, it's stunningly beautiful, and it's incredibly well-crafted. I'm looking forward to adding anniversary bands when the time comes.
